Frequently Asked Questions

What's the BEst way to send you my tracks?

I prefer to receive your individual audio tracks in a .wav format.  This takes the DAW you used to record the project out of the equation and makes the process much easier.  I'll ask that you send them via a link (OneDrive, Dropbox, etc).  The files are too large to be sent via email.  I personally use OneDrive and find it very user friendly.

What if my tracks involve MIDI and VST Instruments?

You can convert the MIDI/ VST track to audio prior to sending your tracks.  This way the sound you like is committed to the track.  All DAWs have the ability to do this, and there should be a video tutorial available for your specific DAW's process.

How and When Do I Pay for My Project?

After we've discussed your project and decided to move forward, I'll send you an invoice.  Once you have paid the invoice in full, I will begin working on your tracks, unless we've made other arrangements during our call.

Why the Pre-Mix Zoom/ Phone call?

I want to make sure I understand your goals for the project, including the sound you're going for, the timeframe you need it completed within, etc.  Spending a few minutes discussing your project beforehand helps us get on the same page, and I want to make sure we both leave the call feeling confident and excited to move forward.  There is no charge for the meeting, even if you decide to work with someone else.

Do you edit tracks (autotune vocals, tighten up timing)?

I do some minor vocal tuning or time editing if a note or two is off as part of my mixing and mastering package. However, for more comprehensive editing, I charge $25 per hour.  This is part of the production process and should be done before mixing.  This can be discussed in more detail during our call and I can provide you with an estimate.

How long does it take to mix my project?

Most mixes can be turned around in 4-5 days.  However, if you have a more urgent timeline, I can try to accomodate you.  We'll discuss this during our pre-mix call.

How long do I have to give you my revisions?

After I deliver your first mix via a secure link, I typically would like to hear back from you within 2-3 days as to what changes you'd like, if any.  If you're happy with the mix, then I'll finalize it and send you your deliverables.

What do you deliver at the end of the engagement?

After you've signed off on your mix, I will send you a high resolution .mp3 and .wav file of your track.  One version of each will be the full mix, and another version will be without the lead vocals.  If you need a more specific version for live performance, etc., I can do so for an additional charge.

What if I want some changes to the mix after delivery?

I try to ensure this doesn't happen by including 3 mix revisions with your package, but I understand that occasionally a need for a new version comes up.  I can “recall” your session, but will charge $75 per hour to do so.

Can I get stem files or the daw project after you've mixed the track?

I will occasionally send stem files for an additional charge - we can discuss this.  I do not, however, send the DAW project.  Since I use outboard gear for processing, the DAW project will not be useful for you.

Do you add parts to my project?

I am happy to collaborate with you and add/ perform parts to your track.  I do this for a fee which we can discuss during our pre-mix call.  This would potentially add to the project's turnaround time, which we can talk about.
